Classes & Techniques
Ballet
Classical, Professional
Classical ballet origins can be traced to the 15th century Renaissance courts. It reached its heyday in the late 19th century when it was structured and codified in the style recognized around the world today.
We utilize the ABT National Training Curriculum in all ballet classes.
Aerial Silks, Trapeze, & Lyra
Strength, Flexibility, and Coordination
Our aerial program is placement-based to ensure students train safely and progress at a pace that supports strength, confidence, and skill development! Classes are divided by both age and experience, and students may be asked to remain in a level for more than one session before advancing.
Contemporary, Jazz, & Conditioning
Musicality, Strength, and Space
Come explore how music and space shape your movement in jazz. Explore the sharp accented qualities from Broadway Jazz to Fosse. In contemporary, explore how weight transitions create different movement patterns.
Conditioning classes are designed to support and strengthen dancers in our other training methods. We equip out dancers to move through their full range of motion.
Recreational Classes
Versatile classes that grow with you
A great way to explore a new form of dance. Created for students who cannot commit to multiple classes a week.
Community Testimonials
"Durham School for Ballet and the Performing Arts gave me everything I needed—and more—to prepare for the life of a professional dancer. I was taught how to view a performance as a whole and to think about every detail and nuance, no matter how big or small the role. Boleyn is like a second mother to me and did so much to ensure my success. The art form at DSBPA has always been approached with openness, and as a result, the exposure students receive to different techniques and curricula is far more expansive than at most dance studios. Lastly, Boleyn has an incredible talent for storytelling and creates productions that tell more compelling stories than many professional companies—with only a fraction of the budget. At DSBPA, you’re part of a family and a legacy, and I can’t fully put into words how important that has been to my career."

"I'm so happy to have found this studio. This is my family's fourth year with DSBPA. Both my daughters take aerial silks with Coach Abby, who is absolutely wonderful. My husband takes an adult trapeze and lyra class, also with Coach Abby. I take int/adv adult ballet classes with Tania and Boleyn and have improved so much in my time here. During our time at the studio we've had lots of interaction with other teachers even if we aren't in their classes, so I need to share that Ms. Addison has a wonderful energy for teaching and interacting with children. My girls love her!"

"My daughter absolutely loves being part of this studio! She takes aerial silks with Coach Abby and ballet with Miss Tania, and she enjoys both so much. She looks forward to every class and always has such a great time learning. Both Miss Tania and Coach Abby are wonderful teachers—so patient, encouraging, and truly inspiring. Beyond the classes, everyone at the studio has been so welcoming and kind to her, which makes it such a positive and happy environment. We’re so grateful to have found a place where she feels supported and excited to be part of the dance family."
